Our bodies are made up of billions of cells. Inside each cell is a documentation manual called DNA, which has chapters we call genes. Genes tell the cells how to act using RNA as their messengers. When cells divide to make new cells, the genes can pick up errors, known as genomic alterations or mutations.
Genomic alterations are changes in the DNA or RNA that can affect the way that specific cells act. Most genomic changes are a part of our normal biology, and do not have a negative effect, but some may lead to cancer or cause cancer to advance. While cancers are typically caused by alterations within a few hundred very specific genes, only a subset of these genes is categorized as “actionable” or associated with a drug therapy. Genomic Testing is a highly precise way to understand these changes and recommend the right treatment for Your Unique Cancer.
The test results can lead to better patient outcomes with fewer side effects also known as progression-free survival.
Genomic testing, or sequencing, reads the “instruction manual” of cancer cells to identify the genomic alterations that cause cancer to grow. Knowing this can help doctors choose the most effective targeted therapy, immunotherapy, or clinical trial for you or your loved ones.
When fighting cancer, you are not only fighting with the tumor but also race against time. Paradigm promises a clinically relevant turnaround time of 5 business days from sample receipt to reporting.
The PCDx test provides patients and physicians with a blueprint of the underlying mechanisms of a patient’s disease, potential treatment approaches, and comprehensive inventory of relevant clinical trials.
Paradigm promises a clinically relevant turnaround time. Customers can expect 5 days from sample receipt to reporting ensures continuity of clinical care.
PCDx combines DNA sequencing with immunotherapy and protein expression results. Actionable results are linked to 90 recommended FDA approved therapy options for you and your provider. This number of FDA treatment options is the most available by commercial genomic testing and is unique to Paradigm.
20% of cancer patients can not get genomic results due to limited cancer tissue available. PCDx can provide an accurate full genomic work up on tissue as little as a grain of rice. This level of accuracy is unique to Paradigm.
Results from the PCDx test allow physicians to tailor each patient’s treatment to the molecular pathways of the specific tumor.
We provide a 5 business day turnaround on reports for immediate translational patient care, allowing oncologist and patients to receive critical genomic, treatment and clinical trial information when they need it.
Talk to your doctor about comprehensive genomic profiling with Paradigm PCDx test and discuss the potential benefits such as how it may help you getting the personalized care you deserve.
Your physician will order PCDx, and will provide your insurance information to Paradigm with the testing requisition. Paradigm staff will contact pathology to have your tissue specimen sent for testing.
Testing takes an average of 5 business days after receipt of the specimen. Once complete, Paradigm will provide the PCDx test result back to your physician’s office to discuss the potential treatment options.

The PCDx test offers a more personalized approach to cancer treatment by identifying the genomic elements of a patient's tumor. Please find the answers to the most common questions about PCDx below to get you started.
The Paradigm PCDx test is typically utilized for patients when first-line or second-line treatment or standard of care options are not working. This is typically referred to as “refractory” disease. PCDx is also appropriate if your cancer is rare or of an aggressive nature with limited treatment options. Ultimately, however, it is up to both you and your treating clinician as to whether PCDx testing may be appropriate for your specific clinical situation.
The results of your testing will be sent to your treating physician in the form of a clinical report, which will outline the following: the testing performed, the genomic alterations that were identified, and information on any potential treatment strategies, including clinical trials that could be of benefit based on your tumor’s analysis. Your physician may then incorporate this data as they develop your individualized treatment strategy.
The PCDx report highlights therapies (both FDA approved and investigational) that may be the most effective based upon the genomic alterations identified in your tumor. Additionally, the service will provide information on clinical trials that may be available to you for participation.
The Paradigm PCDx test can be performed on a piece of tissue obtained during an earlier biopsy or surgical resection. Paradigm can perform a full genomic workup on a piece of tissue as small as a grain of rice, but if there is still not enough tissue remaining from the previous biopsy to run the service, an additional biopsy may be required. When possible, we recommend performing testing on the most recent tumor or disease recurrence.
At Paradigm, we understand that time is a precious commodity to you and your family. We will work closely with your physician to obtain a biopsy sample for testing. Once your sample is received, your results should be available within an average of 5 business days.
Paradigm wants patients and their families to be able to focus on treatment, and not have to be distracted by finances. We are committed to doing all we can to help you receive the maximum allowable benefit from your insurance company. Paradigm currently accepts all insurance plans, although we are not in-network with all providers.
If the insurance provider denies the coverage, Paradigm will work on your behalf to resubmit claims or pursue appeals to maximize payment from the insurer and minimize the amount (if any) that is owed by the patient. During this time we may have to contact you or your physician for assistance.
With clinical-grade accuracy, quality, and turnaround time, PCDx delivers a comprehensive sequencing-based analysis and report that includes information on DNA mutations, copy number variations, tumor mutational burden, mRNA expression, fusions / isoforms and protein expression.
